This is a long review but I want to be able to give a thorough description of our experience. My husband I and stayed at the Adobe Hacienda two weeks ago and had one of the best experiences to date in a B & B. We had never been to Sedona (or even Arizona) before so it was all a first. Being April and a busy season there, I did not initially get to reserve my first two choices in properties. I had searched and researched properties through TripAdvisor and other sites. I can't tell you how happy we are that we stayed in Adobe Hacienda rather than the other two properties. We did have to book two different rooms (3 nights in one, 2 nights in another next door) as I booked so late. But it was nice as we got to experience a little more than we would have otherwise. We did check out the other properties when we were there and were delighted to see that Adobe Hacienda was the best choice for our hopes in a vacation and I will tell you why. 1. Being a smaller property (I believe it has 5 rooms), we did not have to contend with bigger crowds, bunches of children (we left ours at home this trip to have time together) and had a peaceful, relaxing time. At times we felt we had the place to ourselves. 2. On the golfcourse, NEED I SAY MORE!!! which was incredibly convenient. Literally, you walk out your door and onto the range, just a short, picturesque walk to the clubhouse and into your cart. The golf was terrific and the people working there also wonderful. Food at the club very good.
3. Our rooms were incredibly comfortable and cozy and so very clean. Beautifully decorated with art from local artisans that is available for purchase. The beds, very comfortable. The bathrooms, large, laid out well with separate shower, jacuzzi tub and separate toilet area with door and all beautifully decorated and tiled with very nice amenities (and large, fluffy towels). The rooms also each have a mini-refrigerator in the closet to keep wine, beer chilled. They keep water and soda in it for you everyday which was a nice touch also. Our favorite part of the room though, in addition to the magnificent view was the fireplace. It is gas and goes on with the turn of a switch and adds a lovely warmth and ambience to an already beautiful room. I did not include pictures as we felt the pictures on the website were truthful and identical to ones I would have added. 4. Proximity to area. We were close to incredible sites and the best hiking areas (two minutes max), our favorite restaurants (Cucina Rustica, a short walk or drive, the best food and ambiance hands down in town) (Elote Cafe, short drive, don't even bother with any other tex/mex southwestern places after eating here you will be disappointed with any of the others) and away from the crowds and traffic. We did not want to be in the center of town with all of the traffic snarls and crowds and crowds of tourists. We wanted some peace. Getting into town, very easy and quick but so nice and quiet where we were. We went to Sedona to experience the beauty and peace, not tourists. 5. Breakfast. The other very important part of the B&B. Pauline makes the absolutely best breakfasts ever. Each morning it was a different, wonderful meal. Everything from the coffee to the first course goodie to the main entree was fresh, perfectly prepared and served hot and yummy. There was not a complaint from anyone, just a quiet room of happy, munching guests moaning from the deliciousness of the meal. No kidding, each morning was really truly delightful. Eating in the great room that was beautifully decorated with treasures and art from the Southwest again from local artists was relaxing as Pauline played music made by a local Indian musician (we bought a cd there also, I had to have the music to listen to here in NJ!) or you could eat out on the lovely patio next to the fountain which was so very nice also, again with music as well.
6. Pauline and Brad. The nicest, most down to earth hosts we have had. They were helpful and easy to talk to, yet not intrusive. I really don't know what to say about them, everyone we met staying there just couldn't say enough about how wonderful we all thought they were. 7. The ambiance of the grounds. We loved the patio, the flowers, the views, but mostly the outdoor fireplace. To sit there at night with a glass of wine, seeing stars you can't possibly see in the NJ / NY area because of all of the city lights around. The perfect way to end each beautiful, perfect day. |
