Dear Friends of Adobe Hacienda:
A time to catch up
For all you great people that came to stay with us since we took over the Adobe Hacienda two and a half years ago, I have finally taken the time to sit down and attempt my first newsletter so bear with me.
The first event of the year will kick off with the Sedona Marathon Feb. 9th. (and no I won't be running in it so I will not be asking for donations) the momentum is building for this event to become very popular on the Marathon circuit, the 4500' elevation is good training for some.
Valentines Day is just around the corner with the annual Verde Valley Railroad Chocolate Lover's train ride out of Clarkdale, just 45 minutes from the inn. We plan to debut our Valentine's Day smoothie that weekend and lots of chocolate afternoon treats. We now have comfy bath robes in the rooms, to snuggle up in front of your fireplace with.
Feb. 27th to March 2nd sees the opening of the Sedona Film festival weekend, it's always fun to see if you recognize a movie star in town; the event is well attended. Remember Sedona is home to at least 50 movies over the years.
March and April are the start of the busy months with hikers, bikers, golfers and jeep tours. Everything is in full swing, and the birds are busy trying to set up nests all around us trying to claim the back patio over our guests. I am working on trying to answer the "what bird is that" question, since I only recognize a finch, blue jay and humming bird. We have been enjoying for the past year visits from 2 ravens who have taken a liking to the waterfall in the front of the inn; you can usually see them in the early morning.
Last fall, Kumari our inn sitter saw deer on the golf course just a few hours after we had spotted a pack of Javelina's on the practice green and in our driveway (we usually don't see them until sundown) quite a treat. Of course if you have had the pleasure of star gazing while enjoying our new outside Kiva fireplace in the evening, then you may have heard the howl of the Coyotes, a constant reminder we never far from nature in this special place.
May brings the celebration of Cinco de Mayo a festive time for the Mexican people and Talquepaque village where they are in full costume with dancers and Mariachi bands.
The Sedona Art festival is held in October, many talented artists will come to Sedona and many are here all the years round.
Red Rock Fantasy will be on the weekend of December 5-7that Talquepaque, always a treat to get you in the holiday mood. The lighting of the Luminaries and the caroling is quite a spectacle.
This year on Sunday Dec. 7th, The Premier B&B Inns of Sedona will have their open house Holiday Tour starting at 1pm. until 5pm. This is a fund raiser for the Verde Valley Caregivers, a very worthy cause. Adobe Hacienda will be on the tour (wait until Brad sees the honey-do list for the outside lighting, etc)... still being a pilot he shouldn't be afraid of heights.
Brad and I wish you a great 2008 and hope to see you in the near future.
